The Foundation of the ISBT
The Foundation of The International Society of Blood Transfusion is a new non-profit foundation
established by the International Society of Blood Transfusion (ISBT). ISBT is a global scientific
society, founded in 1935 which brings together professionals involved in blood transfusion
medicine. ISBT has an increasing membership with more than 1000 members from over 90
countries. Members include researchers, blood transfusion specialists, clinicians and health
care professionals who share a common interest in health care and in particular blood
banking and blood transfusion medicine.

Some money would also fund fellowships. Of course we do want to achieve the continuation of the programmes we set in place and so the Foundation is looking for a commitment (subject to annual review) beyond the first year.

Announcement
It is with regret that the Board of the Foundation of ISBT has to inform you that the procedure for the grant application for the year 2010 has been postponed. The website of the Foundation of ISBT will not be opened for grant application on November 22, 2009.
Although the improvement of health care in general and of blood transfusion medicine in particular by scientific and educational projects which deserves continuous support, due to lack of sufficient funds as a result of the global financial crisis, the Foundation of ISBT will not be able to support projects for the coming period. The Board will do its utmost to find ways in order to change this unfortunate situation for the better.
Objectives of the Foundation
The primary objective of the Foundation is to enhance global health care, especially blood transfusion medicine, by expanding knowledge and education on health care with particular emphasis on blood transfusion medicine, transfusion science, blood banking and related disciplines.read more
Helping the Foundation
Help us raise money by making a donation. The Foundation hopes to raise 1 million Euros in it's first year. This will give us a good start in realising some ambitious longer term goals and allow us to achieve the first year plans to establish the International School of Transfusion Medicine, support some educational courses and set up the consultant database.Some money would also fund fellowships.
